Paul Maden Dot Co Dot Uk
Now the paulmaden.com site is up and running at its new server, I today tried to add the paulmaden.co.uk domain as an alias.
Easy, huh? Well, yes actually, but here’s the story anyway.
Many years ago I wanted to register the co.uk only to find I’d been beaten to it, which was a bit disappointing as there are only 10 Paul Madens in the whole of the UK.
A few weeks ago I discovered www.deleting.co.uk, a site listing domain names about to expire, and to my surprise found my co.uk was scheduled for termination. When the day came I sat by my computer hitting F5 every few minutes waiting for the name to drop so I could snap it up. The domain finally dropped at around 11:35PM, at which time I’d normally be tucked up in bed. Quite why I expected such a rush on this obscure name I do not know, but in the end my perseverance paid off. In future I’d give serious thought to using a domain back-ordering service such as SnapNames or Pool.
Now I’ve got the domain and pointed it to my new hosting account all I need do is sit back and wait for the incredible deluge of junk mail I’m sure to receive. The old occupier had for years proudly published his email address unprotected on the site. Actually there’s a thought, I wonder what identity fraud schemes I can muster up with my newly commandeered email address?
