Sunday Night Doubles site

Created a new site today for my Sunday night bowling league.

“Sunday Night Doubles”, Ten Pin Bowling in Burnley presents the results for my weekly adventures in ten-pin bowling. The league previously had a long established site presenting game results and fixtures, but since the defection of the site owner to a rival bowling centre the results had not been available.

The new site is constructed as a single file, parsing the output from a quite awesome bowling stats program called WinBowl. Without wishing to discredit the author (who lives a mere 5 minutes away) the HTML output from the reports is somewhat difficult to work with. My script runs the file through in excess of 150 consecutive regular expressions in order to generate a page that is valid XHTML and styled using CSS. Yes, I got a bit carried away, but it’s all well and good, I needed to brush up on my regular expressions for work anyway.

  1. hi im moving to the area soon, and i will be interested in joining a bowling league up there. if you could provide details as to what nights the leagues run, that would be great, plus who would be the point of contact.
    i bowl in a few leagues in the midlands currently and id hate to pack it in.
    oh my names stu, n im 29. so if any league is still looking for a new team or even someones looking for a spare player im really interested.
