Old Sites

Finally began the process of creating an online museum of my old sites and projects.

This weekend I bit the bullet and configured a web server on my home network. This comes barely three years after requesting a fixed IP address for my ADSL connection. A good solid two hours work and I’m now up and running with Windows, Apache, MySQL, Perl and PHP. Of course I could have taken the easy route and installed XAMPP, but that’s just not me. Here’s the server.

Now comes the tedious slog of resurrecting all my old sites on the new server, paying attention to disable any “sign up” mechanisms and so-forth. And of course adding a robots.txt file to some sites as at least one company is infected with pesky lawyers and my duplicate content in the search engines would cause problems.

I’ll post more details when the more interesting (i.e. complicated) sites are live but for now simply visit my museum at m10k.paulmaden.com.
